From Five-Star Phenom to Tuscaloosa Signal-Caller
Ty Simpson’s journey on 247Sports began as a consensus top-tier quarterback prospect out of Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee. Evaluators praised his live arm, pocket mobility, and off-platform throwing ability, awarding him a 5-star rating and placing him among the elite players nationally in his recruiting class.
Choosing Alabama over offers from Clemson, Tennessee, and Ole Miss, Simpson arrived in Tuscaloosa with massive expectations. Under the initial guidance of legendary coach Nick Saban and current head coach Kalen DeBoer, Simpson systematically developed his pre-snap processing and adapted to modern SEC defensive looks.
His patience in an era defined by rapid transfer portal movement has stood out to college football analysts. Rather than departing at the first sign of depth-chart competition, Simpson elected to master the Alabama system, earning consistent praise from coaches and 247Sports beat writers for his maturity and steady growth.
Breaking Down the 247Sports Scouting Report and Skill Set
