Preserving Heritage and Driving Modern Upgrades
Since transitioning from founder Robert Redford to new ownership, Sundance Mountain Resort has carefully balanced its core environmental ethos with much-needed modernizations. The 2026 season marks a milestone in this multi-year improvement plan, focusing on lift efficiency and high-altitude dining experiences. These strategic changes aim to reduce lift lines at the base while preserving the intimate, rustic charm that sets the resort apart from larger corporate mega-resorts in neighboring Park City.
Key physical improvements completed ahead of the 2026-2027 season include:
- Enhanced Snowmaking: New energy-efficient fan guns installed along crucial mid-mountain arteries to ensure early-season opening targets.
- Trail Regrading: Targeted earthwork on beginner and intermediate slopes to improve snow retention and overall skier safety.
- Eco-Preservation Initiatives: Reforestation efforts along the Wildwood lift line to protect the local watershed.
Ticket Availability and Season Pass Access
With summer operations running through mid-October 2026, visitors can still experience the resort's famous ZipTour and scenic lift rides. However, the primary consumer focus has shifted to the winter ticketing pipeline. Sundance continues to offer its popular "Sundance S-Card" alongside traditional unlimited season passes, targeting local Utah residents who prefer flexibility over full-season commitments.
Pass holders for the 2026-2027 season will receive several added perks, including:
- Partner Resort Access: Complimentary or discounted ski days at select independent partner mountains across the Western US.
- Lodging and Dining Discounts: Reduced rates at the iconic Foundry Grill and luxury mountain cabins for early-season bookings.
- Night Skiing Privileges: Unlimited night skiing access on designated lit runs, which remain a major draw for the Provo and Orem communities.
