Why The Sunset Austin Colors Are More Vibrant This Time Of Year
Sunday, I saw 7 bunches of Teal in the 45 minutes after sunset == bunches of 3 to 11 ... so they are arriving. Another caution::some of these areas have some pretty deep pools that are a result of taking dirt to build the federal flood levees. It just has to be taken down and in the parking lot an hour after sunset and can't be setup until midnight the night before use. I'm kinda a nube though. All this was against a great sunset. Unfortunately, I was viewing this great sight from a cement parking lot in Ankeny. I then drove to our farm 10 miles north and saw zero waterfowl the whole way. Good day for gull viewing though. Maybe the DNR should add these birds to the Saylorville count just to make it look better.
