Nodaway County Collector-Treasurer Marilyn Jenkins retired from her post after 16 years, and after 19 with the county in general. County officials held a reception for Jenkins at the Nodaway County Administration Center on March 28. With the lightning striking first in Hoyt, the Thunder came to play from Jenkins. Preston Jenkins has always been a do-it-all standout as a student at Nodaway-Holt and an athlete for Nodaway Valley. This past year, Jenkins helped lead the football, basketball and baseball That group sets the table for the team’s linebackers with Jenkins’ 94 tackles leading that group. Junior Dylan Walker added 84 tackles while Oren Goff had 53. The secondary is an area where the Thunder are replacing weapons, but Calfee feels like a holistic defensive mindset will help smooth the transition.
