The Evolution of the Playoff Format and Season-Long Pressure
The structure of the postseason tested every competitor through a grueling three-week gauntlet starting with the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the BMW Championship. Golf analysts and players continually debated the modified staggered-score format at East Lake, which awards starting strokes based on regular-season performance. This system added intense drama to the fedex cup standings 2024, creating a high-stakes environment where a single misjudged approach shot could cost millions in bonus money. Elite competitors had to balance aggressive strategy with risk management across all four rounds to secure their standing among the golf elite.
