Record-Breaking Chemistry: From Herning Gold to Olympic Glory
The story of Fry and Glamourdale is defined by extraordinary talent matched with world-class training. Under the tutelage of former Olympian Anne van Olst at Van Olst Horses in the Netherlands, Fry transformed the powerful Lord Leatherdale-sired stallion into a global dressage powerhouse.
Their breakthrough onto the top tier of international dressage reached historic proportions at the 2022 FEI World Championships in Herning, Denmark. There, the pair captured two individual Gold medals (Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle) along with Team Silver. Their dominance continued into the Paris Olympic Games, where their high-energy, technically demanding Freestyle routines secured top podium finishes and confirmed their status among Great Britain’s greatest equestrian combinations.
Key milestones of their partnership include:
- 2022 World Championships: Double Individual Gold with freestyle scores exceeding 90%.
- 2023–2024 European & Olympic Campaigns: Multiple Grand Prix victories with consistent high-eighty percentage scores.
- Signature Musical Freestyles: Stadium-pumping soundtracks featuring iconic British pop and rock tracks tailored to Glamourdale's massive paces.
Precision, Power, and Paces: The Technical Brilliance of Glamourdale
What sets Glamourdale apart in the arena is his rare blend of explosive power, expressive elastic movement, and unflappable temperament. Judges routinely award the stallion straight 10s for his extended canter, a movement widely regarded as one of the best in modern dressage history.
Fry’s riding style complements these physical gifts with supreme tact and quiet precision. Her ability to keep Glamourdale relaxed while generating maximum dynamic energy allows the pair to execute seamless transitions between difficult movements.
- Piaffe and Passage: High degree of collection and rhythm, showing excellent activity in the hindlegs.
- Canter Work: Unmatched stride length and uphill flying changes that regularly score maximum points.
- Artistic Interpretation: Choreography designed to maximize audience engagement and highlight the stallion's natural charisma.
