In the 1930s the venue was the Saville ballroom and billiards club, the Gresham ballroom and the Vincini academy of dancing before becoming the Brixton Palais de Dance in the 1940s and the Harlequin Irish club in the late 50s and early 60s. We have shared the Hampden Park seating plan with seat numbers and rows to locate the reserved seats. The map of the stadium shows the location of all the important areas of the stadium for easy identification.

In 2025, Academy opened its first locations in Maryland and Pennsylvania. The company has plans to open up to 160-180 locations in the next five years, including a location at The Strip in Canton, Ohio. News, chat and discussion about Brixton and surrounding areas (Camberwell, Peckham, Stockwell, Tulse Hill etc) Has any building in Brixton been emptier longer than this big eyesore on Pope’s Road? This large office building adjacent to Brixton railway station has been slowly rotting away on Pope’s Road for decades.
I thought it might be an idea to start a general thread for Brixton history, and to get it started, here's a photo of Atlantic Road in Edwardian times.
